Speechless

Alexandria's chin rested on her bare knees as she watched the people pass her by. Her hazel eyes filled with tears, but she never cried one drop. This was because she would never let herself cry over something that once made her happy. It wasn't her fault that fate choose to play such a cruel trick on her. More so it wasn't his fault for leaving. What reason had Alexandria given Timothy to stay? None. It was as simple as that. She wasn't better and she wasn't worse than any of the other girls. Though she often believed herself to be nothing more than a mere pest to him, he still loved her and she loved him. However, as everyone knows love is never enough in the end.

Her orange painted fingertips played with her necklace as she stared past all of the people rushing around doing last minute things. There were children being rounded up by their parents and teenage friends fighting over something that was surely trivial. Then there was a few who were all alone who would look down at Alexandria as if maybe she was waiting for them. She wasn't and so they simply didn't care, passing her as if she was nothing more than a statues. Sometimes she wondered why they couldn't see the tears in her eyes or if they just chose not to. This normally would have upset her that they seem to be too busy to stop and ask what was wrong. She lifted the stone at the end of her necklace to her lips, not that it would really matter she'd say nothing was wrong. She had a bad habit of lying even when it was clear as day that she was.

Her eyes danced from person to person as they slowly started to fade away. Now there were moments when no one could be seen or heard for that matter. Still sitting there she didn't move an inch the whole day. She didn't want to move from beside this stone wall, because she believed if there was a god then maybe Timothy would walk by and change his mind to leave. It wasn't that Alexandria didn't want him to leave, but she felt like he was leaving her. Her heart wasn't as strong as the other girls, she needed him more than they did. Should that mean something, shouldn't that show that her love is true? No. It just shows that she was obsessed with him. Perhaps, this would be a good thing though. If she could learn to be without him, maybe that would show she loved him. Her eyes closed for a moment as she took in a deep breath, it was time to give up. The necklace fell to her chest as she placed her hand on the ground beside her. It was dark out now and she needed to go home and get some sleep.

As she pushed herself up she looked around longing to see him, but he wasn't there. Taking her time she dusted herself off, after all she had been sitting on the dirty ground. Time seemed to be standing still as Alexandria started walking towards her car. Even though there were no people left to be seen there were a lot of cars still parked along side the sidewalk. She made sure to take the slowest steps just in case he could see her. From time to time she would stop to brush her dark brown hair from her face and look around. There was no sign of him anywhere, but that didn't stop her from praying that he would just happen to pop up beside her. Passing a few more cars hers came into sight. Sighing she knew that now she really had to give up hope. There was no longer a chance at all. It would have been wiser if she had just stared home and eaten ice cream like a normal heartbroken girl. However, her heart wasn't broken, just encaged.

On the front of her car there was a piece of paper folded and tucked safely under the windshield wiper. Alexandria's eyes quickly filled with tears as she reached out for it. In horrible guys hand writing her name was scribbled across it. Opening it there was only a line written, 'You shouldn't waste your time on me'. She couldn't believe it, he was there and he didn't bother to see her. Tears started to finally fall from her eyes as she fell to the ground. Never had she felt so stupid in her life. She prayed all day that she may see him before he leaves and turns out he was so close the whole time. If she had just given up a little sooner maybe she would have seen him. The pain was unbearable for her, the mere idea that he would just write that. She wasn't wasting her time, she loved him, he was worth every minute of her time. In anger she hit the side of her car, not once but several times. Her knuckles started to bleed but she did not care. Hitting it over and over again made her pain shift from emotional to physical. Alexandria knew how to deal with physical pain much better. However, this time she didn't stop crying. In hopes to make her tears stop she started to scream and punch her car harder.

Shutting her eyes she went to hit it again and her hand made contact with something else. Before she could even open her eyes she felt arms wrap around her as she was pulled close to someone. Someone who made shhhsing sounds as they started to rock her. She could feel lips pressed closely to her forehead kissing it ever few minutes. For some reason she could force herself to open her eyes and face this person. If it wasn't him her whole world come crashing down. She prayed one last time that it would be him and that everything would be okay. Her hands slowly reached up to grip the arms that were holding her and she held onto them. Biting her lower lip she opened her eyes and looked over beside her at the face of the person holding her. Every thought left her body and she was speechless.

The next morning Alexandria opened her eyes to find herself at home in her own bed. Quickly she sat up looking all around her, but there was no one in the room with her. However, it looked as though someone had slept next to her. Normally her spare pillows would rest along the side of her bed so she could cuddle up to them, but they were resting against the headboard now. Then she saw it, her bedroom door was cracked open which is something she hates. A bedroom door should always be wide open to invite people in or kept shut to let others know to knock. Tilting her head she peered through the crack opening in doorway trying to tell if someone was out there or not. For some reason she didn't dare to get out of bed. Part of her was scared at what all she did last night she couldn't remember most of it she was just a mess. She could feel the light burning on her knuckles though and she could remember hitting her own car. She could taste the blood on her lower lip as she licked them lightly, she must of bitten it at some point. Rubbing her eyes she could feel the left over salt from her tears. She smiled lightly to herself, she must look horrible.

“Oh you're up?” A voice spoke as she looked up. He was standing there in front of her in the doorway. This eyes looked heavy as if he hadn't slept last night at all. Alexandria's smile faded as she looked into his eyes, she wanted to scream that she was sorry for last night, but she really did know if she was. He moved closer to the bed and crawled into it.

“Timothy, I..” He cut her off by placing a finger upon her lips. Then with his free hand he brush some of her dark brown hair behind her ear. Leaning in close to her he kissed the side of her face before he let out a sigh. Feeling a loss of words she just looked at him like a helpless puppy. There was nothing she could say to change last night and there was nothing she could do to make him forgive her once he knew what all she had done. Shutting her hazel eyes tightly she looked away trying to hold her tears in. Timothy grab her face and ran his thumbs below her eyes wiping a way her tears as they slowly leaked out. Half crying and half laughing she started to shake a little before leaning into him with her head on his chest. She was in so much pain, not physically but emotionally. His fingers would start to run through her hair as she rested against him, his heartbeat became louder in her ear. Every now and then she would rub her head into his chest as if nuzzling like a cat to be closer to him. She could feel him smile at her, he always said she was cat like. Maybe if neither of them spoke she could hold onto this moment forever, maybe time would stand still for them. Maybe he wouldn't have to leave her, even though she knew he was still going to in the end. She prayed that this would never end. His finger tips danced around the edges of her ear and then followed down her chin line. This caused her to look up at him, but she still couldn't speak. Kissing her lips lightly she felt like he was hers and only hers for a moment. When they stopped he made his way out of her bed and towards the door.

As his hand touched the door nob she started to cry again. He looked at her and she could see that he was pissed off. Whenever he tried to leave her she would cry, scream, or worse hurt herself. It wasn't fair to him, but she couldn't help it. Whenever he wasn't next to her, she felt apart of herself die on the inside. Alexandria wished she wasn't this way, but she just couldn't help it. So there she sat crying harder. The sound of his fist hitting the door was enough to make her stop for a moment and look up at him. Her eyes grew harder and she got upset. Looking around she picked up a pillow next to her and threw it at him. She wanted to yell at him to go away, to not bother fixing her because he didn't know how. Yet nothing came out of her month and the pillow that hit him quickly came back her way. He would start yelling first, it's how it always went. Things about her always making him feel to guilty to leave. Things about her being childish or non-responsive to him. She just didn't know what to say, she never did. All she knew was that she loved him all her heart and soul and without him she was speechless.
